Six words to describe myself would be “I try to be the happiest” Even though we do not succeed sometimes, it is how you recover that is the most important. Life is way too short to be miserable. Below are a few things that will lead you to a positive life.
I believe in forgiving those who do me wrong. Forgiving is not forgetting how they do you wrong, it is just accepting what has been done and moving on. If you never forgive anyone, you will be a very unhappy person.
I believe in positivity when it’s hard. You truly decided your mood. Whether everything in your life is going wrong, you still have the decision to decide to be happy. It takes a while to grasp this concept, but once you do- it is freeing,
I believe in rewarding yourself. Life is too short to deprive yourself of all the good in the world. So once in a while, get that cookie that you’ve always wanted to try. Splurge on that purse you’ve always wanted, and wear the most confident face of makeup.
So for my final blog post, I am showing my beliefs in what will lead you to a positive life.
For this week’s prompt, I’m listing the 10 things that I think about more than the average person.
- How much I want a dog
- I want to clean everything
- How more things could be organized
- I don’t want to graduate and get a job
- I should be exercising instead of sitting here
- I miss NYC so much
- There is so much to learn
- What other people are doing in the world
- How can I help more people?
- What kind things can I do today
I lay in bed every night and my thoughts go crazy, It’s so hard to sleep some nights because there is so much to think about. I love cleaning and organizing so that is always on my mind. It is so satisfying to see a perfectly color-coded closet and organizing bins with corresponding labels. This may seem weird, but it makes me so happy.
Everyone has different thoughts but many thoughts overlap with other people’s. Fears are something that I try not to think about. It’s a very scary world and it’s hard not to think about some of the horrible things happening. Instead of living in fear, I chose to live positively and wonder how I can help. This has been passed down to me from my mother. She always makes sure that we are using our gifts to help others.
To conclude, it’s hard to narrow a list of just 10 things that I think about more than the average person. There are so many different thoughts that are difficult to narrow down. These ten are what just popped in my head at the moment but they are always changing.
I have always been fascinated with pop culture. Celebrities catch my attention and get my approval whenever they post about important issues. One specific celebrity gets a lot of grief because people only focus on negative qualities but I respect her. She is Kim Kardashian-West.
Kim Kardashian West has 57.1 million Twitter followers and she uses her platform to bring attention to important issues. She educates people who watch her show and follow her social media. Her followers can see her tweet about issues such as cutting funding for Planned Parenthood. Kim dedicated a whole episode of her famous show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, to educating herself and viewers about Planned Parenthood. I respect people who use their platform for good.
One person who inspires her tweets is President Donald Trump. She is not a fan of him and lets everyone know it. Every time he tweets something she doesn’t agree with, she will publicly fire back. Even though he doesn’t inspire her positively, he still inspires her to educate herself.
A positive inspiration for Kim is Councilwoman Nury Martinez. She wanted to figure out how to bring attention to the homeless epidemic in Los Angeles. She talked to Martinez and educated herself on how to help. This is inspiring and it shows that she truly does care about the people in this country.
Top Ten Things I’ve Learned:
- Desserts are the love of my life
- Life is SO short
- Everything happens for a reason
- Your siblings are truly your best friends forever
- My parents are the greatest
- I love being alone
- I will never enjoy cooking
- Being a “neat freak” is OK
- I love traveling
- Math stinks
My top ten things that I’ve learned are very random but I like it. They tell a lot about myself. This week was a very tough week for me. My best friend in life was my dog. I’ve had him since I was five and I did not know what life was like without him. We had to make the decision to put him down. This was hands down the worst thing I’ve ever had to do. This put everything into perspective to me.
Family is everything. Over the past year, I realized how much I do love my sisters. Growing up, having 4 girls in the house was tough. We all picked on each other and fought a lot. Now that I’m older, I know that my siblings are the only people I trust. They know the most about me and I lean on them for everything. We wouldn’t be as close as we are without our amazing parents. They always put emphasis on family life and that’s so important. I do not know where I’d be without them.
Even though there are horrible things that happen, everything does happen for a reason. I am a very firm believer in this. Even though I had to say goodbye to my best friend, this was closing the childhood chapter in my life. Next time something bad happens, remember that it is a sign that God is showing that something better is in his plans.
For the interactive narrative, my group decided on a murder mystery. It was called Dollarita Death: A Margarita Mystery. It was very fun to make and it shows that even you must have fun throughout life. The narrative focuses on a death of a friend during dinner at Applebee’s. The audience can read all about the motives and background of possible suspects. At the end, it will say whether the player was right or not. This is a fun care-free narrative.
I love music. Music has the power to bring people together in ways that other things can’t. I want to create an interactive narrative that deals with music.
If I had to create a mixtape for someone who I did not know, it would include my favorite jams. I have always loved older music, back when everyone would go to dance halls and have a blast. One of my all-time favorite songs is December 1963 (Oh What a Night!). I know all the words and it’s so hard to resist dancing to it.
Even though I love older music, I always listen to new artists and pay attention to the charts of today’s music. It has changed a lot since the 1960s but some artists such as Ariana Grande, still use older beats in their songs. I think that’s why I’m drawn to some current artists. They are mixing the old with the new.
For my interactive narrative, I want to incorporate music but I’m not sure how. I want the audience to solve some sort of riddle along with beats of music. The interactive narrative had the audience solve riddles and physical get involved. I enjoyed playing it and want others to feel the same way.
For this week’s prompt, I decided to choose the question “What did you want to do when you were eleven?”. I do not remember my exact thoughts but I can think of some earlier dreams and thoughts of mine.
Growing up in a small town, I knew that I always wanted to leave. I was not meant for the small-town life. When I was younger, I was a dancer and cheerleader. Dancing was always my real passion. I thought of opening my own studio multiple times. I never wanted to go to college.
I absolutely despised school growing up. I hated the teachers, the kids in my grade and everything else. 80% of the time, I was miserable. Looking back, I realized that this would all turn into depression and anxiety as an adult. I can connect the dots from my younger thoughts.
My location-based narrative was inspired by my small town of Portage. I love history so I decided to take a historical aspect on the project. My town used to be very busy and had stores lining Main Street. Now, mostly all the stores closed down and it’s very depressing to see how much has changed.
Now that I’m in college, I’ve hit the “Oh shit, I have to make actual decisions” phase. I have always been an extremely indecisive person. This can be a good and a bad thing at the same thing. I have never known exactly what I wanted to do with my life. I do have passions but I’m unsure how to make them into a career.
I have always loved competitive dancing (even in the background of the show Dance Moms), playing different instruments, singing, and acting. During one of my many visits to the Big Apple, I was being looked at by a talent agency. As soon as it was time to sign contracts, I changed my mind. I was too scared to be bound to something and I still have that fear. In my last post, I talked about starting my YouTube channel. I like the fact that YouTube does not control your every move and you are free to be creative. You are your own brand.
Now that I am in college, every single night I still wonder if I chose the right major or the right school. Yes, I enjoy this school and major but I always wonder if I’m missing something better. My biggest fear is having regret with decisions and that’s why it is so hard for me to make them.
I am working on actually knowing what I want. I am working to become a better version of myself and be proud of who I am.
My project is titled Ed Sheeran Beats. Ed Sheeran is known for his unique style of music. He is not an amazing singer that can sing any note. Instead, Ed Sheeran is just an “everyday” guy who loves music. I have been a very big fan of his even before his first album came out. He is a creative genius.
Whenever I saw Ed Sheeran in concert, I was so captivated by his ability to just stand on stage with his soundboard and put on a whole show. He would start with one beat on the board and keep adding on. He even added on different background voices to blend with his. It is truly amazing. He is pure talent.
For this project, I wanted to combine some of his well-known songs with others that are my personal favorites. To be completely honest, I am not very familiar with garage band and I got the criticism to make the songs flow better. I tried my hardest to pick similar beats but it is very difficult. I do not know many people with a lot of experience using this app so I had to try my hardest.
Overall, I think my idea is very creative. I chose not to have his lyrics, but to just listen to some of the creative sounds and beats that he has created. I am amazed everytime a new song comes out.
My favorite method of procrastination is watching Youtube videos. I have been addicted since 10th grade in high school and my career on Youtube is just beginning. It is a place of creators connecting and entertaining others.
In 10th grade, I became OBSESSED with the British-Irish boyband called One Direction. Before their rise to fame, they were on the British version of the X-Factor. The boys began posting random video diaries on Youtube of their reaction to what the judges said about their performance that week. I fell in love with their personalities (and their looks in general) and that began my dive into the Youtube world.
I followed other YouTubers such as Tyler Oakley and Bethany Mota before they became extremely well known. YouTube was my place to escape from high school bullies and the stress of being a teenager. Today, I still use it as my escape but sometimes it’s too much of an escape. Dealing with anxiety and depression since 7th grade has been extremely difficult and draining. Whenever certain professors or friends cause my anxiety or depression to raise, YouTube is my therapy. It makes me forget about everything.
Last year, I wanted to learn more and more about how these YouTubers got to where they are today and the whole world behind the app. I wanted to have my voice heard as well. I began making videos at the end of August and hit 500 subscribers at the end of September. I am so extremely proud of myself and know that I am capable of much more. I hope to grow and my ultimate goal is to help others. The whole goal of my channel is to give useful tips and tricks to others that I have learned from experience.
To me, YouTube is so much more than random people talking to a camera. It is an escape and my ultimate method of procrastination. It is so easy to get hooked and lost in an ocean of videos.
“Throw kindness like confetti” is my favorite quote. It wasn’t until recently whenever I came upon this saying. I think it has a fun yet serious meaning. There are so many horrible things going on in this world, kindness is needed.
I was raised to always be kind and treat others better than they treat you. Kill them with kindness. I grew up in a very giving household. My parents always gave to multiple charities and I wanted to grow up to live like them.
NYC is somewhere that my mother and myself visit very often. There are so many poor, homeless men and women. I knew that I could make a small difference that would be a big difference to them. I created little gift bags. They contain things like crackers, water, socks, deodorant, mints and many other little gifts. I gave them out as I walked through the city. That small sacrifice for me made me feel so good inside. The world needs people to give a little love in their hearts.
Simple everyday politeness can go so far. Say “please” and “thank you” and do not take your problems out on others. Smile and wave to others, you never know what they’re going through in their own personal lives. Be kind to one another.
